Powering the Future: Universities and the Global Energy Landscape

TCU Global Futures Symposium, 2026

Friday, May 8, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 3:45 PM CT | Omni Hotel, Fort Worth, Texas

Energy remains one of the most consequential forces shaping the global economy, international relations, and national security. Recent geopolitical developments and disruptions to global energy systems have underscored the volatility and strategic importance of energy markets, raising critical questions about security, sustainability, and international cooperation.

Universities play a vital role in this landscape—through research, policy engagement, workforce development, and global collaboration. They serve not only as generators of knowledge, but also as conveners of dialogue across sectors.

The inaugural 2026 TCU Global Futures Symposium will feature keynote remarks from General David Petraeus and moderated sessions exploring global energy systems and transitions, geopolitical and economic developments across Central and South America, and the shifting political, economic, and security dynamics of the Middle East. Together, these sessions will deliver timely analysis, comparative regional perspectives, and actionable insights—equipping leaders to navigate an increasingly complex global environment.
